Resurfacing work to begin on A49
Overnight resurfacing work to provide a smoother, quieter surface on the A49 in Shropshire will begin on Thursday.

The 500,000 improvements are being made between Wayford Bridge near Dorrington, south of Shrewsbury, and Woofferton at the A456 junction.

All the resurfacing works will take place between 2000 and 0600 BST.

Drivers using the route are advised to allow extra time for their journeys. The Highways Agency said the work was due to be completed by mid-September.

Project manager Dennis Wheeler said: "In order to reduce any disruption to drivers, all the resurfacing works will take place at night from 8pm to 6am when traffic flows are lower.

"We ask drivers using the route to allow some extra time for their journeys and apologise for any inconvenience which may be caused locally.

"The new quieter surface will benefit road users and people living close to the road."
