Police vow to stop illegal raves
An illegal rave
Police are keen to stop the raves in the countryside
Police have vowed to crack down on illegal raves being held across southern Oxfordshire.

Thames Valley Police says it is to use "a considerable number of officers" to prevent the events before they begin.

They hope to stop the large numbers of vehicles that come in to the area's villages as a result of the events.

The decision to step up action comes after a large rave was held on the Ridgeway near East Hendred on the Bank Holiday at the start of May.

More than 90 vehicles with three large sound systems were also stopped from entering land near Aldworth on 15 May after a tip off from an off-duty officer who overheard plans for a rave.

Ch Insp David Purnell said: "We will investigate and assess all illegal raves in accordance with the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act.

"I have allocated a considerable number of officers to resource this operation as these raves are unlicensed and frequently involve large numbers of people disrupting the lives of others."
