A 48-year-old man was stabbed in his abdomen during a robbery in Oxford.
Police were called to the shops in Knights Road, Blackbird Leys, where the victim was found with stab wounds.
The victim was in a service road behind the shops on Tuesday when the robber assaulted him and demanded his wallet.
He was stabbed with a "double-pronged instrument", police said.
The robber is described as black, aged in his early 20s, 5ft 11in and stocky.
He was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top with the hood up and dark-coloured trousers.
Det Con Lisa Heaton, of Thames Valley Police, said: "Thankfully the victim's injuries aren't life threatening and he is on the way to making a good recovery, though understandably it has left him very shaken."
Anyone with information about the incident, that took place at about 1215 GMT, should contact Thames Police.
