All change in 12m city roadworks
Motorists are grappling with new roadworks as work resumes on a major traffic scheme in central Nottingham.

Nearly 12m is being spent on the Turning Point project in the city, the aim of which is to deter traffic and free up the roads for public transport.

For months motorists have endured roadworks on several key routes, including Upper Parliament Street, Maid Marian Way and the Royal Centre.

Drivers will soon see the closure of Burton Street around the Corner House.

Minimum of disruption

Traffic will be diverted along South Sherwood Street and Shakespeare Street to prepare for the major redevelopment of Trinity Square in the summer.

The scheme is on schedule to finish by the end of 2006.

Turning Point project manager Bob Bolus said: "This is the first in a series of traffic flow changes during the scheme which we are doing our utmost to carry out with the minimum of disruption.

"We're pleased with progress so far and hope people will like the end results."
