Part of a major Nottingham A-road is being closed to inbound traffic from next week. The county council says 20 years of wear and tear on the Colwick Loop Road on the A612 east of Nottingham means essential repairs are needed.
Diversions will be set up and outbound traffic can get through but the county council says drivers should avoid the area if possible.
The work starts on Monday and will take about seven weeks to finish.

It will be carried out on behalf of the County Council by Gedling Borough Council at a cost of 350,000. A Highways Agency spokesperson said an alternative route for inbound traffic on Burton Road and Carlton Hill would have been shorter, but an ongoing 40-week gas main renewal scheme prevented this option.
The spokesperson said: "The county council really do appreciate that this work is likely to cause a lot of people a real inconvenience and offer our sincere apologies for this."
The first roadworks will be carried out between Victoria Retail Park and Private Road Number One.
It means this stretch of road will be closed to inbound traffic - with no access into Private Road Number One from the loop road.
Inbound traffic diversions from Arnold Lane are along Plains Road, Porchester Road and Carlton Road.
