Angry traders are predicting chaos as a major road is closed for seven weeks. The county council says 20 years of wear and tear on the Colwick Loop Road on the A612, east of Nottingham, means essential repairs are needed. Outbound traffic will be able to get through, but diversions have been set up for inbound traffic.
Some local traders complain that their suppliers will not be able to deliver, and there will be severe congestion along the diversion route.
The work is being carried out on behalf of the county council by Gedling Borough Council at a cost of 350,000.
