Off-road bikers handed warnings
An operation to tackle Gedling's nuisance off-road bikers has seen 59 warning notes given out.

The action saw a crackdown around Bestwood Country Park, Newstead Village Pit Tip and Annesley Lagoons.

Operation Ryder 8 was carried out by Notts Police's uniformed officers, the off-road bike team and park rangers.

Insp Tony Crofts said: "In addition to seizing vehicles, we hope to educate the users to prevent them continuing to annoy and distress residents."

Illegal use

He said there would be another operation again in the near future.

One motorbike was seized at Newstead Village under the Police Reform Act 2002 and other riders were asked to produce their driving documents at a police station within seven days

Police officers also explained that use in public places is illegal unless insurance is held and that off-road use in public places is also prohibited.

They also gave a verbal warning to a person regarding possession of an air weapon in a public place.
