Estate dispersal order 'success'
New powers to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour on an estate in Corby have been a success, police say.

The three-month dispersal order was introduced on the Shire Estate in the Northamptonshire town in March, with a total of 92 people being moved on.

Over 50 people were banned from the area for 24 hours.

Police said since the order - which has now ended - was put in place, both crime and anti-social behaviour decreased by 63.5%.

The order was originally introduced after complaints about the general nuisance and anti-social behaviour of groups of youths congregating in the Welland Vale Road area.

Officers also carried out high-visibility patrols.
