Dispersal order for estate's yobs
New powers are being used on an estate in Corby to break up gangs of youths causing trouble.

A three-month dispersal order - which begins on Tuesday - has been issued for the Beanfield estate.

For several months the area has had problems with underage drinking, graffiti and mini motorbikes being ridden around the area, police said.

The dispersal order means police can order people to leave the area and not return for 24 hours.

In addition, anyone under the age of 16 years who is within the dispersal zone after 2100 BST can be taken home by police, unless they are in the company of a responsible adult.

Failure to comply with the order could result in arrest and subsequent prosecution.

Leader of Corby Borough Council Pat Fawcett said: "I hope that those that have these orders placed on them grow up and realise that we will not take any more of being intimidated and abused by a minority of troublemakers."
