Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral is to host a performance so rare it has not been heard in the UK for almost 10 years and no recording of it exists. Sir Charles Villiers Stanford's Piano Quintet will be performed by Ensemble Liverpool to celebrate Protestant composers on Tuesday.
The concert by the independent group from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic marks the Year of Faith In One City.
The Metropolitan Cathedral already held a concert to honour Catholic composers.
Composer Graham Marshall will give a talk before Tuesday's performance which features his own piece Shaking Strings - dedicated to Ensemble Liverpool.
