Mother's bid to find son's killer
Ramone Cumberbatch and son Amarno
Ramone Cumberbatch left behind a three-month-old son
The mother of an 18-year-old Manchester man shot dead a month ago has appealed for help to catch her son's killer.

Father-of-one Ramone Cumberbatch died shortly after he was shot at an address on Rolls Crescent in Hulme on Tuesday, the day before his 19th birthday.

Bev Knott, 36, from Chorlton said: "The death of Ramone has torn the family apart, affecting [all] of us, especially his younger brother Zico."

Campaign group Mothers Against Violence is supporting Thursday's appeal.

Ramone was at a friend's house on Rolls Crescent when he was shot while his friends, girlfriend and baby son, Armano, were in the front garden.

"Please, I would ask anyone who knows anything about how Ramone was killed, no matter how small they think it is, to call the police," said Ms Knott.

'Vital clues'

Det Ch Insp John Piekos said police were particularly keen to find the murder weapon.

"I believe there are people within the local community who have information about Ramone's murder and for whatever reasons are not coming forward," he said.

"But I would just ask these people to look to their consciences, look at the devastating effect this has had on Ramone's family, and give us the vital clues we need."
