Patrols stepped up after shooting
Ramone Cumberbatch and three-month-old son Amarno
Ramone Cumberbatch was shot the day before his birthday
Police patrols have been stepped up after a series of shootings in the Hulme area of Manchester.

A murder investigation began after Ramone Cumberbatch was shot at an address on Rolls Crescent on Tuesday the day before his 19th birthday.

The father-of-one was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary but died from his injuries a short time later.

Detectives want to see if the shooting is linked to three similar incidents in the area earlier this month.

Armed police

Mr Cumberbatch leaves behind a three-month old son called Amarno.

On 4 September a man was shot in the leg in Boundary Lane. The following day there were reports of gunshots in Heald Grove.

And three men were shot in neighbouring Moss Side last Wednesday.

Greater Manchester Police have deployed highly visible armed and unarmed patrols in the area to reassure the community.

The force said it wants to deter any further criminality and to react quickly to any more incidents.
