Gritters are working to get the county roads cleared

Drivers are being warned to take care with more heavy snowfall and icy roads predicted in Lincolnshire overnight.

A severe weather warning has been issued for the county, with up to 8cm (3ins) of snow expected by morning.

Temperatures could fall as low as -3C (27F), the Met Office said. The county council assured residents gritters were treating roads around the clock.

Earlier, heavy snowfall, icy roads and freezing temperatures forced the closure of 24 schools in the county.

Up to 10cm (4ins) of snow fell overnight in parts of the county.
