Weather warning as snow predicted

A severe weather warning has been issued for the whole of the East Midlands by the Met Office.

Heavy snow is forecast for Derbyshire, with up to 20cm (7.9ins) expected on higher ground.

Up to 10cm (3.9ins) of snow is expected across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, with drifting in places.

Drivers are being advised to take extra care on roads across the region on Monday as rain, sleet and snow clear to form widespread ice.

The Met Office said snow showers would become frequent and heavy at times during the day.

On Friday snow across Lincolnshire forced schools to close.

Over the weekend bus services in the county were cancelled because of dangerous road conditions, and some roads were closed.
