March against winter ward closure
A protest march is being staged against plans to close a hospital ward over the winter months.

The Scarborough Ward at Skegness Hospital is due to close on Monday for five months.

East Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust is taking the step to try to reduce a 7m overspend.

Campaigners said the protest was aimed at getting as many people as possible to attend a meeting with hospital bosses on Monday.

The march through the town centre is being staged at 1130 BST.

All 26 staff on the ward will be redeployed as community nurses while it is shut, hospital chiefs said.

The ward will reopen in April 2006.
