East Lincolnshire's out-of-hours health care service is being investigated, it has been confirmed. Inspectors from the independent Healthcare Commission are looking into the service after concerns were raised about the way it operates.
Staff are being questioned after some GPs criticised the service.
East Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust said it welcomed the opportunity to discuss the out-of-hours service with the commission.
Patient risk
The trust took over the service last November.
Earlier this year GPs in Louth tried, unsuccessfully, to take over the service following complaints from patients.
They said it was failing and putting patient safety at risk.
Once initial inquiries are completed the commission will decide if it needs to press ahead with a formal investigation.
