A wind farm has been given the go-ahead by a Lincolnshire borough council despite strong opposition from local residents. Boston Borough Council approved 13 turbines for a site at Bicker Fen in Lincolnshire.
Councillors unanimously agreed to the Wind Prospect project plans, even though they received more than 400 letters of objection.
Steve Lumb, head of planning at the council, said: "We have had a lot of evidence and a wealth of information to consider and I am confident that the right decision was made."
Less electricity
The plans detail the building of 100-foot-high wind turbines on land near Bicker Fen.
But protestors at the meeting said they are concerned about increased traffic in the area and other impact on the local area.
One protestor said: "We don't actually need more electricity, we need to use less.
"We need to put them where they don't involve people and impair the quality of people's lives."
Mr Lumb said: "There is an impact, but as wind energy becomes more the norm in Britain, that impact will become more accepted."
