New zone to tackle alcohol crimes
Police say they are determined to cut down on the amount of drinking-related offences in a Leicestershire town.

An alcohol control zone is to be set up in Melton Mowbray in an attempt to tackle troublemakers.

Officers will have extra powers to arrest and fine persistent offenders in the zone, which covers the town centre.

They have warned that glasses or bottles containing alcohol may also be confiscated from anyone found to be wandering the streets.
