Booze ban to tackle park trouble
Alcohol is being banned from a park in Leicestershire in a bid to stop vandalism and anti-social behaviour.

Troublemakers are being blamed for damage costing thousands of pounds in Holmfield Park over the last few years.

Changing rooms and other facilities in the park at Braunstone Town have been repeatedly vandalised.

Braunstone Town Council has granted the banning order which allows police to confiscate alcoholic drinks from anyone in the park.

Anyone who does not hand over the booze faces a fine up to 500.

As well as covering the park, the exclusion zone will extend to cover Wardens Walk and the Kings Drive Playing Fields.
