The centre will offer training and accommodation
A new project for the homeless is opening in Leicester.

The Dawn Centre will provide support for homeless people at the new centre on Conduit Street in Leicester.

Temporary accommodation, counselling, life skills and educational workshops will be offered at the centre.

The 42-room complex which will operate 24 hours a day, will be opened by the director of the government's Homeless and Housing Support Directorate.

Workshops will be offered on arts and crafts, life skills and anger and anxiety management.

The centre replaces the New Walk night shelter and will have have doctors, nurses and other health carers on site.

Nearby residents had opposed the development, claiming it would cause problems in an area already affected by anti-social behaviour.
