Homeless centre prepares to open
A centre which aims to provide a one stop shop for homeless people is to open in Leicester.

The 4m, 42 bedroom, Dawn Centre on Conduit Street replaces the New Walk night shelter.

It will have doctors, nurses and other health carers on site - as well as state of the art facilities.

Nearby residents had opposed the development, claiming it would cause problems in an area already affected by anti-social behaviour.

Combined services

Manager Karen Purewal said: "The fact all these services are under one roof is very, very special.

"It is the first in the country where we've actually got everything under one roof.

"We are excited about it because sometimes it is very difficult to get all these services joining up together at the right time."

The centre is due to open its doors in December.
