Bicycles are being used by community support workers in Leics to help them patrol their beats. The six mountain bikes were bought with 5,000 of government cash in an attempt to make the officers more mobile.
The officers are asking people to introduce themselves when on the beat so they can get to know the community.
Ch Supt Geoff Feavyour of Leics police said local people have welcomed the bikes as they help the support workers respond more quickly to incidents.
