MP to speak out over gas storage
Wyre estuary
The company plans to store natural gas in salt caverns
An MP will speak at the public inquiry into plans to store more than one million tonnes of natural gas underground in Lancashire.

Energy company Canatxx wants to store natural gas in salt caverns beneath the Wyre estuary at Preesall.

Wyre Council decided in April to employ consultants and barristers to fight the plans at a public inquiry.

Lancaster and Wyre MP Ben Wallace is expected to speak out against the plans at the inquiry on Friday.

Lancashire County Council has already rejected the plans on grounds of its impact on the environment and the potential risk of a gas leak.

About 10,000 local residents have also objected.
