Clampdown on village youth gangs
Youths on a street
Breaching the order could lead to arrest
Police in Humberside are warning gangs of youths who gather in two North East Lincolnshire villages that they will be moved on under tough new measures.

Dispersal orders have been granted to allow police to break up groups they believe to be harassing people in New Waltham and Humberston, near Grimsby.

Youngsters who do not live in the area can also be told to leave.

The measures have been taken following a number of complaints from residents about trouble in the area.

Respecting rights

Police warn any breaches of the order could result in arrest and applications for individual Anti-Social Behaviour Orders.

Pc Andy Wood said: "This is not about punishing youngsters, its about respecting the rights of the residents and traders of New Waltham and Humberston to live in peace without aggravation.

"We have had a catalogue of problems in these two areas caused by local youths and youths coming into the villages from other areas.

"This has included gangs outside people's homes shouting, being abusive and causing damage."

Already, more than 50 letters have been sent out to parents advising them of the orders and police will also be visiting Waltham Tollbar, Humberston and Lindsey Comprehensive School.
