West Yorkshire now has a prosecutor dedicated to 'yobs'
A specialist prosecutor has been taken on to tackle anti-social behaviour in West Yorkshire.

Bob Nott is one of 13 prosecutors in the country dedicated to pursuing anti-social behaviour cases in the courts.

It is hoped the appointment will reassure communities that authorities are working to combat the problem of so-called "yob behaviour".

The Crown Prosecution Service said Mr Nott would ensure that offenders received the punishments they deserve.

Central contact

Mr Nott said: "Anti-social behaviour has been prevalent in parts of West Yorkshire for far too long.

"Asbos have proved to be an important and effective way of combating such behaviour and I am delighted to have been given the lead role."

Mr Nott is set to act as a central contact for all local agencies dealing with anti-social behaviour.

A Home Office spokeswoman said his appointment ensured the dedication of victims and witnesses was now matched by the criminal justice system.
