Barriers were erected in several towns including Shrewsbury
An estimated 140,000 has been spent on protecting homes and businesses along the River Severn from recent flooding.

The Environment Agency had to erect barriers in several towns including Shrewsbury, Bewdley, Bridgnorth and Worcester following the wet weather.

Homes and businesses along the river were warned about flooding on several occasions before and after Christmas.

The removable flood barriers in Bewdley won an award from the Institute of Civil Engineers in 2003.
