Work to improve the A40 road surface began in May Picture by Rob Keene |
Drivers in Gloucestershire who are travelling through the A40 roadworks are being encouraged to car share or use public transport. Highways Agency engineers say the project is on schedule but are worried the school run will cause congestion. The council advises drivers to use a county-wide car sharing scheme called carsharegloucestershire.com to find potential car-sharing partners. The contraflow is due to remain closed for at least another two months. Councillor Julie Girling, of the county council, said: "Sometimes just a slight change in our routine can make a big difference and car sharing is just one way of reducing the volume of traffic."
