CCTV to tackle station vandalism
CCTV cameras are to be installed at a Dorset railway station after a spate of vandalism attacks.

Train passengers and nearby residents had complained after property and vehicles were vandalised at Upwey station in Weymouth.

"Rail users told us about the problems they were experiencing and I hope this positive action will help to improve the situation," said a spokesman.

Work to install the CCTV system is expected to be complete by August.

Paul Denton, of South West Trains said: "The safety and security of our passengers is our number one priority and with the council's support we have responded to passenger feedback to install these cameras."

Dorset County Council claims installing CCTV at Maiden Newton and Dorchester West stations recently was very successful in halting petty crime.
