Police arrested 37 drivers for providing positive tests |
The first week of a drink-drive awareness campaign has seen 34 people report drivers, a police force says. Their information has resulted in 11 motorists being arrested across Dorset.
In total, 37 drivers have been arrested after providing positive breath tests - an increase of 16% on last year. Six of them had been involved in collisions.
Police chiefs say they are "extremely encouraged" by the public's willingness to get involved in the campaign, which runs until 2 January.
Ch Insp Rick Dowell said: "I would remind those drivers who continue to flout the law by driving after drinking that we will come after you and you might be next.
"Our computer-based intelligence systems are being used effectively to collate, analyse and disseminate information to patrolling officers to enable them to target drink-drivers."
