The annual campaign to stop people drinking and driving over Christmas has been launched in the West Midlands. Police arrested 400 people between 18 December last year and 2 January on suspicion of drink driving.
Adverts are conveying the message that people cannot calculate how much they can safely drink.
Police are appealing for a designated driver to be nominated on nights out and warn that people can still be over the legal limit the following morning.
Detectives say that although the problem exists throughout the year, the temptation to offend is often greater during the festive period, because of the more relaxed atmosphere and increase in parties.
Officers will be doing random roadside checks across the region.
There will be adverts on radio and television and in off-licences and pubs.
