One-room chalet sold for 100,000
Brick chalet at Southbourne Beach
The chalet was sold in 1984 for 7,500
A one-room beach hut in Dorset which measures just 8ft by 14ft has been sold for 100,000.

The brick chalet at Southbourne Beach, Bournemouth, Dorset, with a view over Poole Bay but no toilet, has been sold with 54 years left on its lease.

The hut was previously sold 20 years ago for only 7,500.

Solicitor Joss Payne, who handled both the first purchase and the current sale, told the buyer in 1984 he "was crazy to pay" 7,500.

"But how wrong can you be?" he said.

"That's been a pretty effective investment."
