Bus strikes go ahead
Strikers and bus
Strikes are planned for Monday and Wednesday
Bus users in Devon are facing further misery this week after staff from Stagecoach rejected the latest pay offer.

The first of a further six one-day strikes will get under way on Monday.

The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union, which wants a 57p rise in drivers' hourly rates to 6.50, says it is unhappy with the latest offer from the company.

Stagecoach had offered 6.30 an hour through "changes to working practices" and said there was no more money available.

A spokesman called the decision by the union "unbelievable".

He said: "We will do everything we can to run as many buses as possible, but we are extremely disappointed by the decision."

Last week the company warned that as many as 200 jobs could have to be cut as a result of the industrial action.

The industrial action has affected Stagecoach services in Torbay, Exeter and east Devon.
