RMT leader Bob Crow will address drivers in Exeter |
Hundreds of bus drivers working for Stagecoach in south and east Devon will hold a mass rally on Tuesday, the latest day in series of one day strikes over pay and conditions. The leader of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) Bob Crow will address the drivers who want a rise to 6.50 and to retain their current working conditions.
This is the third day that Stagecoach services are being hit as drivers take to the picket line.
Mr Crow will be in Devon to meet his members before addressing them at a rally in Exeter.
Variety of options
The industrial action will affect Stagecoach services in Torbay, Exeter and east Devon.
The company expects around a quarter of services to run.
It says on strike days last week it carried almost half the number of passengers it normally does and believes the upward trend to continue on Tuesday.
The company has offered a variety of options to drivers to settle their pay claim.
However these were rejected by 93% of members in a ballot.
They want a 57 pence rise to 6.50.
But Stagecoach says to get this they would need to give up some of their current working conditions.
Drivers have rejected this.
