Clearance work will 'stop floods'
Maintenance work is starting around two rivers in the Amber Valley to try to prevent flooding.

Coppice Brook and Bailey Brook are classified as critical watercourses, which means they can flood properties.

The Environment Agency will clear debris, blockages and trees that could cause problems.

Flood defence engineer Morgan Wray said staff would look at the risk at each of the rivers and brooks and then carry out work to minimise the problems.

He said: "Some of these little rivers have caused extensive flooding to properties."
