New work to relieve flooding
People living in part of Derby have been promised an end to the flooding which has affected homes for years.

Householders in the Sinfin area have regularly found their homes underwater after heavy rainfall.

Now Severn Trent Water has unveiled a 9m plan to upgrade and replace local sewers. Work will start next summer.

The company says new pipes will cope with the downpours but has also warned the improvements will also mean months of disruption.

Kate Cox, from Severn Trent Water, said: "It is a very busy area with schools, a golf course and bus routes.

"So we are talking to all sorts of people - the council and the highways people and community groups.

"We want to find the best possible way of planning this so we make sure we keep disruption to a minimum."
