Clough statue campaign launched
Brian Clough retires
The campaign for a Brian Clough statue marches forward
A Derbyshire actor who is starring as Brian Clough in a play in Nottingham has joined the campaign to erect a statue of the legendary manager.

Colin Tarrant - better known as Insp Andrew Monroe in ITV's The Bill - will be attending the official launch of a fund to raise 60,000 for the statue.

He will join the other key fundraisers on the Brian Clough tram heading for the Council House to launch the fund.

It has not been decided yet where any statue might be erected.

Nottingham City Council leader Jon Collins will present organisers with the special banners displayed in the city centre shortly after Mr Clough died last September.

They will be auctioned off to raise money for the statue fund.

The banners feature some of Clough's most famous quotes including: "I wouldn't say I was the best manager in the business but I was in the top one".

The Brian Clough Statue Committee said there has already been a tremendous public response to the idea for a memorial.

There are separate plans to name the A52 between Derby and Nottingham as Brian Clough Way after the man who managed teams in the neighbouring cities.
