Floodwaters ripped through Boscastle on 16 august

The restaurant of the Wellington Hotel is being refurbished by the BBC's Changing Rooms team.

The crew is also doing work on several other properties for a one-hour special to be shown at Christmas.

The presenter, Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen, who has a home in Port Isaac, said he was delighted to play a part in the restoration of the village.

'Morale booster'

He said: "It's not going to be a make-over, these are long-term design solutions.

"We're not just patching it up with sticky-backed plastic with MDF and yoghurt pots."

He said the teams would not be constrained by the usual Changing Rooms budget.

He said: "I cannot tell you how generous companies have been.

"Local, national and companies have been queuing up to donate stuff."

The hotel's general manager, Suzanne Harari, says the involvement of the team is a great morale booster.

"Since 16 August things couldn't have got any worse," she said.

"When Changing Rooms said they would do our restaurant it's just a fantastic bit of progress that we don't have to worry and stress over.
