Several buildings were demolished by the flash flood |
The Environment Minister Elliott Morley is visiting the Cornish village of Boscastle to see for himself the damage done by floods. It is exactly a month since a 3m (10ft) wall of water crashed through Boscastle on 16 August.
Mr Morley is looking at the worst affected parts of the village and meeting residents who lost their homes and belongings.
But he is unable to say how much government money will be available.
Task force
More than 100,000 has already been raised through an appeal fund was set up by the Red Cross and North Cornwall District Council.
Mr Morley told the people of Boscastle they had not been forgotten and praised North Cornwall District Council for the way it has dealt with the emergency.
He said: "The local council has done an excellent job in the way it has responded and the way it's working with local people.
"I've also been talking to the local councillor about the regeneration of the village and the work that has to be done."
Mr Morley said the Government Office South West has set up a task force group which will be chaired by North Cornwall Council.
It will bring together all the various agencies to see what additional help can be given to the village.
It is not yet clear how much it will cost to restore the area.
