Connection to broadband will be possible even in remote areas
Hundreds of jobs could be created in Cornwall under plans to attract London companies to the county.

Cornwall Pure Business, Act Now and the Camborne, Pool and Redruth (CPR) Regeneration company are working together on a multi-million pound initiative.

Included in the project are plans for a 16m business centre in Pool.

The project is being officially launched on Wednesday at the Tate Modern Gallery in London.

No matter how remote or rural the area, we can help all businesses connect

The Inward Investment Manager at Cornwall Pure Business, Danielle Atkins, says Cornwall is an ideal place for IT companies.

She said: "We would provide information on funding routes and help find sites and premises.

"We also create bespoke reports for businesses, including demographic statistical information on the particular area the business was interested in moving to.

"We work very closely with the businesses early on to identify their needs and specific requirements."

Millions of pounds will be spent over the next four years to get London companies to move. It should create hundreds of new jobs in all areas of Cornwall, including technology and medical research.

Celebrate co-operation

The chief executive of CPR Regeneration, Tim Williams, said: "What we're trying to do is get the entrepreneurs.

"They're not going to bring their teams, but we've got to create an environment in which they can work.

"It's neat. We should celebrate the co-operation between the key initiatives in Cornwall.

"Through Cornwall Pure Business and Act Now, you've got Broadband and what we're telling people is that Cornwall is better connected than any other part of the UK.

"That's very attractive to businesses."

The company slogan for Act Now is "Making Cornwall the Place to do Business in the 21st Century".

Marketing Officer Emma Lydon said when the company started in April 2002, it was able to help small businesses connect to broadband.

She added: "We've received another 6.5m funding and our message is no matter how remote or rural the area, we can help all businesses connect."
