The future of the Compair Holman site will be discussed |
Plans for a new urban village on the outskirts of a Cornish town are being discussed by local residents on Thursday. The Camborne, Pool, Redruth Urban Regeneration Company is holding a workshop to develop plans for the long-term development of the Dolcoath area of Camborne, including the former Compair Holman site.
Representatives of local organisations, community groups, employers, landowners and school pupils are attending the workshop to help produce a master plan for the development of the area of the town.
After the workshop, members of the public will be invited to drop into the sessions to learn more about the potential developments.

Among the plans up for discussion are the development of a new urban village at Tuckingmill, many new homes and a mixed use neighbourhood around the Compair Holman site as well as community facilities and public spaces.
Councillor John Woodward, a board member of CPR Regeneration and economy and regeneration portfolio holder at Kerrier District Council, said: "The workshop is all about sharing ideas and information, and working up some of the proposals contained in the urban framework plan.
"We also need to look closely at the long-term future of the CompAir Holman site, which extends to 17 acres and has huge potential for development as a mixed use site.
" We have to look very closely at what buildings should be retained, and which areas could be redeveloped to create the maximum economic impact in Camborne."
The same workshop group will meet again in March to consider a range of development scenarios produced by the master planners.
