The aim is for the document to be adopted as planning policy |
A 20-year blueprint for Newquay has been revealed to the public. The aim is for the document to be adopted as planning policy to shape the future of the town, and its development as the "Surf Capital of the UK".
The plan, Newquay Action Framework, sets out several key development sites and says the resort has vast potential as a year-round holiday destination.
Those behind the plan want to see Newquay's seafront become more of a focus for the development of the town.
'Vibrant town'
The plan says there must be better access to the town's beaches, better quality buildings and an improved retail centre.
The blueprint also highlights the need for more public spaces, pedestrian areas and better transport links.
It is hoped the framework will be adopted as the town's future planning policy.
The chairman of the Newquay Regeneration Forum, Andy Cole, is optimistic about the town's future.
He said: "Newquay is about a vibrant town that is starting to rebuild itself, not that's it's gone down, it's reinventing itself as every town does over the years."
