Volunteers will be given training |
People in Cornwall are being asked to volunteer for a scheme which will help keep young people safe during a night out in Newquay. The Streetsafe project is being organised by the Restormel Community Safety Partnership.
It is modelled on a project which has been running in Norwich for three years.
It aims to support people enjoying nights out in Newquay who may then find themselves in difficult situations.
The plan is to have a special vehicle in the town for at least two nights a week in the peak tourist season when staff will be on hand to offer help and advice to young people and to make sure they get home safely.
Organisers are asking for volunteers to help man the vehicle.
They say training will be given and that the project's success will rely entirely on people giving it their support.
