Three Bren machine guns have been surrendered to police in the west during the first two weeks of the national firearms amnesty. They were handed in to stations at Weston-super-Mare, Amesbury and Swindon.
A total of 120 weapons and 3,000 rounds of ammunition have so far been recovered by Avon and Somerset Police
Chief Inspector Tim House told the BBC: "We did not expect hardened criminals to hand over their weapons.
"But every gun that is handed in is one less opportunity for them to be used in a crime later on."
The amnesty lasts until 30 April.
