Mary-Ann was allegedly raped and tortured |
A man accused of murdering Mary-Ann Leneghan confessed to his social worker he had tortured her, a court has heard. Mary-Ann, 16, and a friend who survived were abducted by a gang and taken to Reading's Prospect Park in May 2005. Mary-Ann was stabbed 40 times.
Indrit Krasniqi, 18, admitted he burned the girls with cigarettes and stabbed them with knives, the jury was told.
Mr Krasniqi, of Chiswick, west London, and five other defendants deny charges of rape and murder.
'We tortured them'
Claudette Campbell, a senior social worker, told the court she was "stunned" when he described how he had gone to Reading with "the boys" to seek revenge for a stabbing attack on one of them.
The court heard previously the man who had been attacked was Mr Krasniqi's co-defendant Adrian Thomas.
He said they had picked up two girls - whom Mr Thomas blamed for setting up the attack - and took them to a hotel.
'Shot in the head'
Miss Campbell said Mr Krasniqi then told her: "We tortured them."
She said he also told her: "One of the girls was put on her knees and shot in the back of the head."
She said of the shooting: "He said he was there but he didn't have anything to do with it."
Adrian Thomas, of Battersea, south London; 23-year-old Joshua Morally, of Balham, south London; Jamaile Morally, 22, of Balham; Llewellyn Adams, 24, of Balham; Indrit Krasniqi and Michael Johnson, 19, of Southfields, south-west London, are all on trial.
Joshua Morally has admitted two counts of kidnap but denies murder, attempted murder, rape and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The others deny all the charges.
The trial continues.
