Mary-Ann was allegedly raped and tortured |
The trial of murdered teenager Mary-Ann Leneghan was temporarily halted after a juror became unwell listening to graphic details of how she died. Mary-Ann Leneghan and a friend, 18, were abducted by a gang before her body was found in Reading's Prospect Park in May 2005. She was stabbed 40 times.
The Reading Crown Court jury was shown a body chart detailing her wounds.
Five defendants deny charges of rape, kidnap and murder. One man has pleaded guilty to kidnapping the pair.
The trial has been told that the two girls were abducted from a car park, driven in the boot of a car to a tiny hotel room and raped and tortured.
Punctured lung
Mary-Ann, 16, was stabbed to death but her friend, then aged 18, survived being shot in the head.
On Wednesday, a male juror was seen to fall back in his seat while Dr Vesna Djurovic, a pathologist, described each injury during a post-mortem examination.
Mr Justice Penry-Davey, presiding over the trial, adjourned proceedings after being informed by one of the defence barristers that the juror was poorly.
Dr Djurovic told the court the most serious wound was to the neck.
The court also heard one of the deeper wounds had punctured one of the youngster's lungs.
Adrian Thomas, 20, of Battersea, south London; 23-year-old Joshua Morally, of Balham, south London; Jamaile Morally, 22, of Balham; Llewellyn Adams, 24, of Balham; Indrit Krasniqi, 18, of Chiswick, west London, and Michael Johnson, 19, of Southfields, south-west London, are all on trial.
Joshua Morally has admitted two counts of kidnap but denies murder, attempted murder, rape and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The others deny all the charges.
The trial was adjourned to Thursday.
