Seaman was voted out by the show's judges |
Former England goalkeeper David Seaman has slipped out of ITV1's Dancing On Ice Show after almost injuring his dancing partner for a third time. Seaman, known for his safe hands while playing for Arsenal, stumbled while spinning his partner.
Pam O'Connor, who needed stitches after cutting her chin rehearsing the same move ahead of last week's show, escaped injury as he regained his balance.
They were voted off the show after a skate-off with dancer Bonnie Langford.
"We tried the spin once and didn't quite do it in the first show [of the night], but we nailed it in - I was going to say play-off then - in the skate-off."
He praised the coaching of former Olympic gold medallists Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.
Ballet lessons
Ms O'Connor had already been injured earlier in the competition when Seaman fell on her.
Because of that injury, the Yorkshireman had to perform on one show with a stand-in partner, Russian skating champion Natalia Petrova, but he sent her sprawling when he lost his balance during a complicated routine.
He later said he was taking ballet lessons to improve his technique on the ice.
Next week Bonnie Langford, actor Stefan Booth and actress Gaynor Faye will compete to be Dancing On Ice Champion in a live final.
The celebrities and their partners will perform routines to Bolero, made famous by Torvill and Dean in their 1984 Olympic triumph.
