Javed Miandad says the wedding is a "personal matter" |
Former Pakistani cricket captain, Javed Miandad, has confirmed his son will marry the daughter of India's most wanted man on 23 July. Junaid Miandad became engaged to Mahrukh, the daughter of Dawood Ibrahim, last month.
Mr Ibrahim is wanted on charges of masterminding a number of bombings in Mumbai (Bombay) in 1993 that left more than 300 people dead.
Javed Miandad said the marriage would take place in Dubai.
The couple met while studying in England.
US designation
Javed Miandad said: "It is our personal matter and I see nothing wrong in it. We have accepted Mahrukh as our daughter-in-law.
"We will invite our relatives, friends and well-wishers. We have nothing to hide."
He said there would be a reception in August in Karachi but declined to comment on whether Mr Ibrahim would be at either of the occasions.
Mr Ibrahim has denied involvement in the Mumbai bombings.
The US designated Mr Ibrahim a terrorist in 2003 and lists him as living in Karachi. Pakistan says he is not in the country.
Javed Miandad is a cricketing legend in Pakistan.
He retired in 1994 after scoring 8,832 runs in 124 Test matches.
