Al Green - Soul Man

These days Al Green combines soul singing with preaching
In a Hardtalk Extra interview broadcast on Friday 22nd July, Noel Thompson spoke to Al Green about his career in soul music and finding religion.

The Reverend Al Green is one of the last great soul singers - famous for his angelic voice and sensuous lyrics.

He's also a minister who found God at the height of his fame and still preaches at a church in Memphis, Tennessee.

How does he balance his strong religious faith with the songs he sings.

And what does he see as the legacy of his musical generation?

HARDtalk Extra can be seen on Fridays on BBC World at 03:30 GMT, 08:30 GMT, 15:30 GMT, 18:30 GMT and 23:30 GMT.

It can also be seen on BBC News 24 at 04:30 and 23:30
