Monday 30 June

  • Ben Whishaw

  • The actor is starring in Criminal Justice, a five-part thriller for BBC One. He will also be hitting the big screen again in the brand new adaptation of Brideshead Revisited and treading the boards at the National Theatre next month in 'Some Trace of Her'.

  • First News

  • Henry �The Fonz� Winkler is touring schools across the country with First News, the national newspaper for children. The reading tour is in support of the 2008 National Year of Reading.


    Friday 27 June

  • School Makeover
    Breakfast has followed the transformation of a London primary school over this week. We return Live today to reveal how it's gone.

  • Chinese Food
    Ching-He Huang's being hailed as the Nigella of Chinese cooking with a new BBC2 Series, Chinese Food Made Easy. The first programme starts on the 7th of July at 8.30pm.

  • Natasha Marsh
    Nominated for a Classical Brit award this year for her debut album 'Armour'. Her second album has been released this week.

  • Glastonbury
    Jon Kay will be informing everyone on what is hot and what is not in the fashion stakes at Glastonbury this year, with several festival-goers on hand to discuss current trends at the infamous festival.


    Thursday 26 June

  • City Boy
    Geraint Anderson was an investment banker who broke the City's "code of silence" as a newspaper columnist. He has now blown his cover to publish a full-scale account of life in the Square Mile.

  • Wimbledon
    Chris and Carol are joined by Jo Durie from the FC Tennis academy and eight year old Charisma, who last year won a tennis scholarship. Discussing how children should be allowed to play tennis for free to encourage them into the sport.

  • Citizens Arrest
    A former soldier who made a citizen's arrest, was then arrested himself - on suspicion of kidnap. Frank McCourt endured a three-month legal ordeal while the accused and his gang went unpunished.

  • Jim Kerr
    Jim Kerr and Simple Minds are performing at the Nelson Mandela 90th Birthday concert this Friday. They're also preparing for a tour to celebrate their 30th Anniversary starting at the end of November and recording a new album.


    Wednesday 25 June

  • Beavers
    Remember the story about the pair of beavers who built the first dam in England for centuries? It's sparked a row about whether the animals should be re-released into the wild over fears that beavers and their dams cause localised flooding.

  • School Makeover
    Contractors, architects and educational suppliers are joining forces to carry out a 'Changing Rooms' type makeover on a school in Ealing, West London. The project is to mark National School Environments Week, which runs throughout this week.

  • Natalie Clein
    The award winning cellist has had a new cello concerto written especially for her which she is premiering on 28 June. It's part of the Hackney Music development Trust's celebration of the Beijing Olympic Games and Hackney's role in London 2012.

  • Bernie Nolan
    Bernie is to star in Flashdance the Musical, which has it's world premiere at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth on July 19, followed by a national tour.


    Tuesday 24 June

  • Ben Fogle and James Cracknell: race to the South Pole

  • We're talking to Ben and James about their latest expedition. They're looking for a (very fit) volunteer to join them on an international race to the South Pole, following in the footsteps of Captain Scott and the Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen. This is not being organised by the BBC: you will have to follow this link for more details - and be available for the event in December 2008. The closing date for applications is July 1

  • Duncan Pow

  • Duncan plays Linden Cullen in the drama Holby City. Tonight he stars in and narrates a special episode filmed in South Africa. BBC ONE 0800-0900pm.

  • Mica Paris
    The presenter and soul singer Mica Paris is playing at The indigO2 Jazz and Blues series this weekend, held at the O2 arena.

  • Estelle
    Performing at Glastonbury this weekend, Estelle is back with a brilliant second album 'Shine', from which she has taken her third single 'No Substitute Love'.

  • Deana Martin

  • The daughter of legendary singer Dean is in the UK for a series of charity fundraising concerts.

  • Craig David

  • Craig has got a new single. 'Officially Yours' out Today- June 23rd. The third single to be taken from his recent album release 'Trust Me'.

  • Bryan Adams

  • His current single was released on June 16th. "Tonight We Have The Stars" is the second track from the rock legend's new studio album, '11'.


    Friday 20 June

  • Amanda Drew

  • The actress has returned to BBC's Eastenders in a dramatic new story line. Amanda is also starring in "The Ugly One" - a new play at the Royal Court Theatre in London.

  • Tim Henman

  • The former tennis star is the BBC's new commentator at Wimbledon and has been teaching Amanda Holden to play tennis on the Robinsons court.

  • Bernard Cribbins

  • The actor stars in this weekend's episode of Doctor Who playing the role of Donna's Grandad. You can watch Bernard in action tomorrow night at on BBC One.

  • Cycling
    The Government will today announce a new Cycling City along with 10 cycling demonstration towns as part of a �100m investment to encourage people to get on their bikes through its body Cycling England

  • Prince Caspian
    Anna Popplewell and Williams Moseley are starring in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, released on 26 June

  • Potatoes
    As the credit crunch bites and food prices rocket, the Potato Council is launching a campaign to encourage us to return to the kind of potato-heavy diet reminiscent of war time

  • Photographs

  • The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland announced today that it is acquiring one of Britain's most fascinating photographic archives depicting World War II.

  • James Toseland

  • The two-time World Superbikes champion and BBC Sports Personality of the Year contender, is competing in his first MotoGP on home soil, at Donington this Sunday.

  • Royal Ascot

  • Carol Kirkwood went to the factory of Quill and Capeline Ltd to find out just how all those beautiful hats are made.

  • Disco granny

  • Molly Parkin is a 76 year old grandmother who DJs in the Soho nightclub, Green Carnation. Accompanied by daughter Sophie and grandaughter Carson, Molly hopes to promote "a real mix for all ages."

  • Tribal Wives

  • Sass Willis spent four weeks on the Kuna Yala Islands off Panama living as a tribal member. You can watch Tribal Wives tonight on BBC Two at 9pm.

  • Dictionary

  • Members of the public are being asked to contribute their own private language or "kitchen table lingo" to help create an alternative English Dictionary. For more information, click on the link below.

  • Royal Ascot

  • It's the first of five days at the races and this year marks the royal meeting's 297th year. Today we speak to Royal Ascot's Nick Smith and the BBC's Clare Balding.

  • Stelios

  • Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the founder of easyJet, has launched a one man campaign to reunite the Elgin Marbles by taking out a series of full page adverts in British newspapers this week.

  • Sanjeev Bhaskar

  • On 23rd June, the actor will be joining the cast of the multi award-winning record-breaking Monty Python's Spamalot. The play is showing at the Palace Theatre in London's West End.

  • Memorial

  • The UN Secretary General dedicates an international memorial on the roof of the BBC's Broadcasting House in London today, which remembers journalists from all organisations and their teams killed on assignment.

  • Superlambanana

  • Today sees the launch of the Superlambanana trail in Liverpool. 100 unique pieces of public art will be unveiled across the city, continuing the theme as the City of Culture.

  • Sam Roddick

  • The ethical campaigner and daughter of the late Dame Anita Roddick launches Ctrl.Alt.Shift, a new charity for the Myspace and Facebook generation which aims to get people re-engaged with charities.

  • James McAvoy

  • Breakfast spoke to the actor as his latest film, Wanted hits the cinemas. James plays the lead role in the action movie which comes out on 27th June.


    Friday 13 June

  • Lesley Sharp

  • The actress is currently playing the lead role in the play, Harper Regan at the Cottesloe Theatre. You can also see Lesley in tomorrow night's episode of 'Doctor Who - Midnight' on BBC One at 7.10pm.

  • Festivals

  • James Smart, the editor of Rough Guides and Huw Stephens, the Radio One DJ, talked about the rise and fall of the Summer festival. With tickets still on sale for Glastonbury, have we become disillusioned with the weekend music festival?

  • Restoration

  • Remember the Old Grammar school and Saracen's Head in King's Norton? The project won the 'BBC Restoration' prize in 2004 will be opened later today by the BBC's Director General.


    Thursday 12 June

  • Nigel Kennedy

  • The renowned violinist and his quintet celebrate the launch of a brand new album recorded at the Jazz Cafe. Nigel will also be performing two special concerts at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Proms on Saturday 19th July.

  • Worst mother?

  • Alison Baverstock, mother of four and co-author of the Whatever! guide to parenting teenagers spoke to the BBC about her parenting decisions which are causing a bit of storm over in the U.S.

  • Mike Tomlinson

  • The 47 year old will be cycling the 1,400 mile journey from Lands End to John O'Groats in memory of his wife, Jane. During five special Ride-For-All days, up to 100 members of the public will be able to join the cycling challenge for a day.


    Wednesday 11 June

  • Sir Michael Lyons

  • The Chairman of the BBC answered questions on the corporation's coverage of events in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England.

  • Bone cancer

  • Devoted identical twins, Emily and Kath Blunt, aged 20, spoke of their anguish over discovering the news that Emily has terminal cancer. The pair are using their time to raise awareness of Emily's condition, osteosarcoma.

  • Crabs

  • A group of University of Cambridge zoology students plan to hand out 10,000 leaflets to quayside crabbers in Wells-next-the-Sea on how best to care for the crustaceans.

  • Rory Kinnear

  • The actor plays the role of Denis Thatcher in the BBC Four drama 'Margaret Thatcher: The Long Walk to Finchley' as well as starring in The Revengers Tragedy at the National theatre.


    Tuesday 10 June

  • Memory
    Hannah Ward and David Luck came first and second respectively in the first ever UK Schools Memory Championship, the brainchild of the eight-times World Memory Champion, Dominic O'Brien.

  • Brian Conley
    Brian is to star in 'The Music Man' at Chichester Festival Theatre, which opens on the 23rd June and runs until the 30th August.

  • Mary Queen Of Shops
    Retail guru Mary Portas returns to our screens trying to save more shops and businesses from disaster. The second series of Mary Queen Of Shops starts tonight at 9pm on BBC Two

  • Paula Wilcox
    The actress will be starring as Hollywood legend Bette Davis in a new play Whatever Happened To The Cotton Dress Girl?

  • Bogus callers
    A joint campaign involving the water industry, the Association of Chief Police Officers and the Home Office is being launched today to try to reduce the number of bogus callers arriving at people's homes

  • Chesney Hawkes

  • The one and only has a new album out called Another Fine Mess! The album was first available via iTunes and hit other digital retailers on 5th May.

  • Stevie Wonder

  • One of the all-time music greats, Stevie Wonder has announced his first UK tour since the mid 90s and spoke exclusively to Breakfast.

  • Alexei Sayle

  • In a brand new series, the comedian attempts to rediscover Liverpool, the city he abandoned in the 1970s in search of a cultural epiphany down South. You can watch the first programme tonight on BBC Two at 9pm.

  • Rheumatoid arthritis

  • Research carried out by the BMJ in Scandinavia shows that drinking moderate amounts of alcohol could cut the risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis by up to 50 per cent.

  • Geri Halliwell

  • The singer-turned-author is launching her new book, Ugenia Lavender and the Terrible Tiger. The book is in the shops from tomorrow and is the second of six books to be written by Geri.

  • Royal Academy of Arts

  • Tracy Emin curates her first art show at the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition and promises not to disappoint anyone expecting "outrage". The exhibition opens on 9th June.

  • Pigs

  • The farmer and former Blur bass player, Alex James is backing a campaign by British pig farmers who say rising feed costs will put them out of business.

  • John Culshaw

  • Children are dropping traditional fairy tales for funny stories according to new research by the National Year of Reading. Impressionist John Culshaw talked to Breakfast about the findings.

  • Suzanne Shaw

  • The Ice Queen is now playing Roxie Hart in the hit West End musical, Chicago. Suzanne will be starring in the show for six weeks only at the Cambridge Theatre in London.
