Declan discovered that healthy eating can be expensive |
What we eat and the effect it has on our long-term health was the focus as Declan dropped into Stockton-on-Tees today.
And he had one or two surprises for viewers of Breakfast.
Declan dumped his leathers and crash helmet, donned trainers and shorts and headed straight for the gym.
He also looked at whether we take enough exercise and spoke to a nutritionist.
And as well as looking at what we eat, he looked at his own daily diet, and that of Natasha and Bill.
In his first report Declan looked through the shopping basket of Breakfast presenter Bill Turnbull
Along with nutritionist Susan Eldon they 'chewed' over the contents of Bill's weekly shop and Declan also looked at what he and the crew have been eating since they set off on their journey across the UK.
It was a light hearted way of looking at how our growing reliance on junk food is contributing to problems with health and obesity.
Declan then turned his attention to another Breakfast presenter - and with Susan, they looked at the contents of Natasha's fridge.
Organic, and sometimes healthier foods are often more expensive and Declan and Susan discussed the challenges faced by families in maintaining healthy diets.
Also on Breakfast...
We looked at the legality of Tony Blair's decision to go to war in Iraq after details were revealed to the BBC of the legal advice given to the prime minister by the attorney general.
Central to the issue is whether a second UN security council resolution might have been required.
But the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats want to know why, on the eve of going to war, the Attorney General Lord Goldsmith altered his advice.
Our Political Correspondent Shaun Ley explained the background to this issue and looked at the effect the latest developments might have on the election campaign.
And today we launched the latest round of our caption competition.
